It’s super easy to make too! Just some popsicle sticks and plastic coins. You can use stickers too – I like the coins because the kids can feel the edges. I used a large “nut” container, and the popsicle sticks fit PERFECTLY inside – you can even put the lid on for storage! Hot glue (or super glue!) the coins on to the sticks. On a couple of the sticks write “Bankrupt. ” Kids sit in a circle and pass the can around – when it is their turn, the child takes one and says the name of the coin (you can also have them say the value). If they are correct, the stick goes in the center, if they are wrong, the stick goes back in the can. If they pull the bankrupt stick, all the sticks go back in the can.
I love it because the kids don’t say “bankrupt” – they always say “bank robbed!” Too cute!
Here is the download for the label if you would like it:

23 Notes to the Teacher:
I have several of these games that we call Wiggle games. Some sticks have sight words, some have number words, color words etc... In each can I have 2-3 sticks with a med. sized wiggly eye glued to it. If the students pulls that one we all get to stand up and do the wiggle dance. I have a little song that I sing to it also. I just sing " Wiggle wiggle wiggle. Wiggle wiggle wiggle. ... over and over again to the tune of 99 bottles of beer on the wall. The watchful suspense on their faces is the best about this game!
Great idea! We are working on coins so this is perfect!

Super cute idea! I read that you use super glue to glue the coins on...ever used E6000??? Best glue EVER!!! Those babies will NEVER come off:)
Katie - I MIGHT have used E6000 -- not sure.... I made them awhile ago - they have never come off so whatever I used seemed to work! I just don't like the smell of it!!

I love this! I was looking for a circle game for money this year. For some reason, my kiddos struggled with money this year so I can't wait to use this next year. Kuddos!!

Can I ask where you got the coins?? I'm student teaching next spring and for one of my classes I need to create a manipulatives kit and want to do this game! I've looked online but most of what I've found (that doesn't cost an arm and a leg) have COPY written all over them. Thanks!!
Um.....don't know! I've probably had them for about 8 years! Probably our local teacher supply store - don't have any idea what brand they are! Sorry I couldn't help more!
I tried our local dollar store and they all had the copy on them. Then I went to Big K or K-mart and found some that looked completely real only 3.99. Even my coworkers at the bank I worked at when I fooled her to thinking she had drop it on the ground thought it was a real coin. :)
Peculiar article, exactly what I was looking
for.

Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 40
foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed
and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had
to share it with someone!
