So, I was excited when they told me they would send a Readiness Starter Kit my way.
I put my 5 year old to work on them…
Here’s what you do…open up the tiles, and place the tiles numbered side up on the lid, and the “open” blue section on top of the answer key.
The top 8 boxes have the questions…(see the balloons)…So for number one, she needed to figure out the letter that comes next..(D) – she would find the D on the answer key, and place the number 1 tile on it. See the R there? She would put the number 8 tile there. Make sense?
Boy, was she focused!! (She did catch her mistake, by the way!)
After all the tiles were in place, she closed the lid, flipped it over and checked to see if the design matched the one on the page.
This is a great independent activity, but does take a little time to master. She was easily confused with the activities with numbers. However, I do think with continued practice it will be a cinch for her.
I really liked this readiness pack because it had many many skills that kids at the beginning of kindergarten could use such as vowel sounds, rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, colors and shapes, numbers and counting, and so much more! (You can even make your own activities!)
I would like to purchase a few more of the tile sets so I can use them as a morning center for my kiddos! I know they would LOVE them!
Here’s a video that shows a bit more about Versa Tiles
THIS GIVE AWAY IS NOW CLOSED! THANKS FOR ENTERING!

I "liked" both Growing Kinders and ETA on facebook. I had these when I taught Resource many years ago. It is a thought process for little ones to make these matches. It's not a direct match of example to response, but of the number key to the letter key. I've never tried it with kinders. But the self-checking aspect is really cool.

Love VersaTiles!!! But I think you have placed the answer case too far down on the page according to your picture. Every window of the open case should have a picture underneath it to start. Then place all the numbers tiles, in order in the case, covering the top eight pictures. Then you move the number tiles one at a time from the top to the bottom as you uncover a picture and answer the question or make the match. Finally, you close the case, flip it, and see if the pattern matches. Maybe you moved the case to show the page as you took the picture??? My grandchildren love the activities!

What a great opportunity!!!! Thank you so much for putting this together. I liked the pages and will be staying in touch with the pages =) It is because of people like you and these companies that children everywhere get to take advantage of such great resources like this. The budget cuts and teacher pay these days makes it very difficult to offer all these wonderful hands-on resources! I will be saying a little prayer that these end up in room 142 =) Thank you and good luck to all and happy school year everyone =)

A very excited kindergarten teacher!
I found a very old set of these in the "junk pile" one year during summer break. My kids love them, but the set I have is a little too old for most of them. I would love to have a more K friendly set. I just found your blog today . . .very well done.

I love versa- tiles. I have always wanted a set of about five with the books. I was given one set with a practice book at a workshop once and ever since have tried to find ways to buy some. They are worth the money, but PTA never has enough funds to go around. A fellow teacher won an entire Kindergarten set a few years back. She was so happy and I was happy for her good fortune. The video you included was great. Thanks. The pre-skills set is just the thing to use now for testing skills and differentiating for students with more background. Good luck to everyone. When someone wins this it will be a really nice addition to your classroom.
ReplyDeleteI have seen your sight on pinterest a few times but only looked at the specific activities. Tonight I looked through your blogs and can't wait to look more but not enough time. Thank you so much for the great activities and printables!!
