Daily Schedule Cards

I’ve had lots of requests for my daily schedule cards.  This daily schedule is super important in my classroom because we refer to it all.the.time.  The children like to know what’s coming next, and I always TRY to let them know if something is going to be different! I also hang the digital date cards from my calendar pack above it, so it is easy to find.

This is part of our daily routine, and right next to our daily focus wall (coming soon!) at the front of our room!

I’m offering my cards to you today!  I really, really wish that I could customize these for you, but I just don’t have the time to do it! :( Sorry!  So, if you can use these, great! If not, sorry!  I’ve included a few blank ones at the end so you could hand write any other subjects/classes you might use. Just click the image to download!

PS – My doc called back today and the radiologist said that it wasn’t bronchitis, but pneumonia. blegh. So, sick day for me tomorrow.  My principal sent me this:

She knows me too well. I will *try* not to work!

Letters in your Name & Bad News/Good News

First, the bad news.  I went to the doctor today. I can’t breathe.  If I breathe too deeply, I have a coughing fit.  The kids look at me like I am dying, and I feel like I am.  So I decided I needed to go.  I dislike going to the doctor.  One nebulizer treatment (which didn’t do a thing), and a set of chest x-rays later, I go home with some steroids and antibiotics.  Acute Bronchitis is the diagnosis.  If only the steroids would make my muscles bigger ;)

Onto the good news.  The nurse thought I looked 23.  Enough said. :)

So, if you have a Promethean Board you will be able to use this freebie flipchart.  If you have a SMART board, I’m sorry, but I don’t know if you’ll be able to use it…..you’ll have to check with your technology person.

We try to do this every day, but we don’t always get to it.  You’ll have to add your kiddos names to the bottom!

Sept 23-27 Lesson Plans

Ahh friends.  Life has been CRAZY.  My dad has been ill and in the hospital, my daughter’s are so busy with school, soccer, and dance. And I have been S.I.C.K.  I can’t seem to get better.  This virus/gunk/cold/whateveritis has hung around for a good 3 1/2 weeks!  Is it too early to say I’m looking forward to Christmas break?!

This weekend, I did manage to break away for a *tiny* bit of fun (in between soccer, haircuts, dance and school work) with my daughter.

So, here is what my week looks like.  I may not get to everything – I tend to over plan a bit!  Click {here} to download a PDF of the plans so you can click on the images to go directly to the source.

Some of you might notice, I changed my literacy and math center rotations *again.*  I TRIED to do a daily 3 type rotation, and it was simply stressing me out.  It didn’t work for me.  So, I went back to my old, tried and true schedule! However, with 25 kiddos, I needed to break down my groups.  So, I have 8 centers that will go over 2 weeks.

A Look in my Drawers…

Okay, that sounds really bad.  Get your mind out of the gutter ;)  Here’s a peek in my literacy center drawers for the week.

I keep my centers in these great drawers that I bought at Ikea.  They work PERFECTLY for me.

The drawers on the right (labeled A-F) are for my literacy centers and the drawers on the left are for my math centers.  Here’s what in the literacy center drawers for this week:

Lesson Plans September 16-20

Phew.  Finished.  Why am I such a last minute planner!? I don’t always get to everything on my plans, but it’s there.  My kiddos are doing a great job figuring out how to do our Daily 3.  Transitions are going faster, and they are figuring out how to work quietly!  I am *ahem* bribing them with our ipads – when they are able to work quietly at centers, the ipads will come out! I also added one more literacy center in place of a listen to reading. After you have downloaded the doc, you can click on any of the images, and it will take you to the unit.

The Kids on the Bus

I have another quick number game to share!

I love this one, and the kids had a blast with it.  These little Lakeshore figurines made all of the difference.

See the bus windows?  It’s like a mini 5 frame! IMG_7455

We practiced taking kids on and off the bus and playing with number combinations of 5.  I wish I could say they could all add and subtract fluently within 5 already, but sadly, that’s not the case.

But, we have a start, right! Later, we’ll do this activity again with whiteboards and write out our equations.

Do you want to try this activity tomorrow?  Click the image to download! I’m keeping it simple leaving it in black line – so go copy it on colored construction paper!

A Caveman Could Do It

There is NOTHING cute and fancy about this game folks.  We played this game the first week of school.  I wanted to get the kids used to playing games in partners, and I just needed to watch how they interacted with each other, and also if they had any basic math skills.

So this roll and cover game spilled out of my printer.  There is really nothing to it, and it’s not any brilliant new idea.  I just made a 1x6 table and added the numbers.  Ran through the copier on colored paper and printed.  Literally a 5 minute prep time. Shh….they’re not even laminated!

IMG_7240

The children take turns rolling the dice and covering the number they rolled with the markers.  When their board is full, they just start over again.  No winner, here – just keep going and going and going!

IMG_7239

I’m going to add this game to my sub tub – it’s simple and easy a caveman can do it.  If you need a minute to catch your breath during the day – pull this game out.  Your kids will love it.

Lesson Plans–September 9-13

Here we go! It’s our first official 5 day week.  We were *supposed* to have a full week, but we closed school early because of extreme temperatures in our classroom.  It’s no fun teaching (and it’s not safe!) when you’re classroom is hovering around the 90 degree mark!

So…this week is it. I posted last week about my literacy center rotations.  Well….after reading Marsha’s post about her rotations, I changed it again.  I do have some help in my room for literacy rotations, and I wanted to truly take advantage of that.  We will give it a go this week and see it we can make it work!

You can download a PDF of my plans by clicking {here} or on any of the images!
