Sunday Smorgasbord + Christmas in July {50th and 100th Day!}
Do you know what a smorgasbord really is? I’ll tell ya..
It is really spelled like this: Smörgåsbord (that’s Swedish). Remember my hubs is from Norway (which is right next to Sweden, and many things are similar). He loves going home, because he gets to eat ALL of the foods that he loves…
A smorgasbord is really just a buffet…
In Norway, it can look something like this….there is lots of delicious bread, lots of pålegg (that’s toppings like meats and cheeses), and lots of veggies. Sometimes they have cold scrambled eggs. (I don’t like that.)

So, how’s that for random??
Let’s get back to it…I’m leaving for Vegas today. I am SO excited. My bags are packed and I’ll be on my way!
Before I leave though, I need to tell you about my Sunday Christmas in July sale!

Vegas, here I come!

Christmas in July {Day 7} AlphaHeroes! + Some Fun ABC Stuff
This set has EVERYTHING you need to start the year off with letters and sounds! Kids love super heroes, so they are CERTAIN to love these sweet little Alphaheroes!
Be sure to stop over at my Facebook for your fan freebie!
So, I while back I posted this picture on my Facebook page
I KNEW I could figure out something to make with both of these empty containers…..and I did! I will share with you the first game today!
Introducing The Magic Letter Can!
Now, we know that if we use the word “magic” with our Kindergarteners and have some glitter thrown in they are instantly intrigued!
I found the glitter paper and glittery stickers at Michaels, and it took me all of 10 minutes to put together this project. I used some tape to tape the glitter paper to the can, and stuck the stickers on. Easy peasy.
For the game pieces, I used my Silhouette to cut out some circles super quick, but you could also use a circle punch. I used the remaining stickers on the letter “coins.” Some have both uppercase and lowercase, some have only uppercase. (I only wanted to buy one pack of stickers!)
This is a game that will help kids with letter/word association. We will pull out one letter coin, and try to say as many words as we can that start with that letter. If we get stumped, we’ll pull out another coin. This is a great game to bring along with you if you have to wait in line for lunch, wait for specialists or waiting at assemblies! The pringles can is a “snack size” so it easy to carry around!
I’m sure you can think of lots of other ways to use the Magic Letter Can! Do you think this is something you could use in your classroom?
Oh, before I forget, I have a brand new center unit in my TpT store. I’m super excited about these activities, and I think it will make my beginning of the year centers so fun and EASY! Take a peek if you’re interested!
and the bundled set:
I also finished this little ditty awhile ago, but forgot to upload it!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I’m leaving for Vegas tomorrow! Super excited! Maybe I’ll see you at the blogger meet-up on Tuesday!
I’m bringing with me a big box from someone special for the meet-up…..here’s a little hint…..
Favorite Pins Friday
I am linking up with my lovely friend Cara over at The First Grade Parade to share with you some of my favorite Pins! If you are not following me yet on Pinterest, click on the Pinterest icon below to head on over to my boards to follow!
Classroom Stuff
I really love this idea and can think of SO many ways to use it – remembering take home folders, reading folders, PBIS incentives…LOVE it!
I really loved what one pinner said about these paint chips! She uses them for student pairing. Children pull out paint chips from a bag and the matching colors are pairs. The pair that has the “original” black Mickey ears goes first! I ran out right away to find some of these paint chips, and my Lowe’s doesn’t have them any more! :(
I just ADORE this idea!
Fashion Pins

I LOVE these Toms, and Zulily was even having a deal on them this week – but, alas, I was not fast enough, and they were all sold out. But I did get my daughter the black sparkly ones she has been wanting!

I think this ring is PRECIOUS. My husband and I celebrated out 14th wedding anniversary (early, since I will be in Vegas next week) last night, and I think this ring (or a pendant) would make such a sweet gift!
and Kate….

Oh, how I love Kate from The Small Things Blog. I’ve been reading her blog for a few years now, and she has hands-down THE BEST hair tutorials! It helps that our hair is so similar too!
YUM-O
Need I say more??
If you’ve never had birthday cake popcorn. You MUST make some this weekend. This stuff is like crack. {Not that I would know, because I have never tried crack :) } SO delish.
Funny Pins

If you follow my fan page, you’ll know that I asked for ideas for an empty Pringles can and Crystal Light container….I have ideas for both (and they’re done!) I’ll share them with you soon! I think as teachers (especially primary teachers) we are guilty of this!
YES!!
Just plain fun ideas….
Wouldn’t this be fun for your home or classroom for the funny things kids say? Or for vocabulary words that you want kids to use throughout the day?
Things to make
I really love to knit and crochet, but I have a hard time just sitting down and relaxing enough to do it! I think this little blanket is so beautiful, and it’s the perfect take a long project! Any other knitters/crocheters among us?
So, stop on over to Cara’s blog and see the other fun Pins that people love!
If you haven’t stopped over at my Facebook page today, be sure to check out my deal of the day and download my daily Christmas in July freebie! Just click on the image to make your way over there!
I Teach K! {Freebie!}
It’s right around the corner! I fly out on Sunday and need to get my handouts bound and ready to go! I have always bound my handouts – it just makes it easier to find them to reference later on.
I mentioned it to my roomie last year, Deedee of Mrs. Wills Kindergarten, and she came up with the clever idea of making a cover. Duh.
That was last year’s book. She has put her brilliant skills to use again this year and made covers for us all. Just click on the image below to grab them for yourself.
Last year, I also made some pages for my book, but never got a chance to share them because it was a last minute thing. Well, here we are again – last minute! (and I still haven’t printed out my handouts yet!!)
Just click on the image to go to Google Drive to find the folder – there are jpegs there for you to slip into a PowerPoint (if you’re tech saavy!) or there is a pdf there for you to print and hand write all of your details.
So, if you’re a last minute kind of girl like me, grab these extra pages and add to your book, OR just slip them inside!
My presentation is ready to go, my materials are packed, now it’s just to pack my bags and jump on a plane!
My presentation is on Tuesday at 1:00 – stop by and say hi! I’ve got lots of fun ABC stuff to share with you!
Christmas in July {Day 5} Fix-It Up!
It’s an oldie, but a goodie! This is one of the first things I have made, but it works so well, so why change anything?!
I start using this version in about February. They are a little bit more confident in their writing and editing skills.
Part of the reason I think kids love this so much is the cooperative learning part of it – they check each other’s work! It’s so sweet to watch them gently teach their friends about their mistakes. It holds both kids accountable for their learning as well.
I tried to be very careful that the sentences that I included were very simple so an emergent reader could read them and/or decode them.
I also have a version two of the Fix It Up Sentences – but this is really a version 1. I would use this version before I used the original Fix It Up.
Psst….I’m fairly certain that Fix It Up Again will be part of the Christmas in July sale, just don’t know when yet ;)
So, as usual there is a freebie over on my Facebook page….be sure you like my page to grab it. Tell your friends too! I know they would also love to download a copy!
